Motorcyclist killed in Boulevard accident

Police said there was a fatal auto accident on Saturday night in Oxford Circle.

The accident took place at about 7:38 p.m. at Roosevelt Boulevard and Bridge Street.

According to police, the operator of a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound inner lanes of the Boulevard when he failed to stop at a red traffic signal and made contact with a 2017 Hyundai Elantra.

The operator of the Elantra was traveling eastbound on Bridge Street with a green traffic signal when struck by the motorcycle, police said.

The operator of the Elantra then made contact with a 2012 Toyota Camry. The operator of the Camry was traveling westbound on Bridge Street with a green traffic signal when struck by the Elantra.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported by a fire department medic unit to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:11 p.m.

The victim was identified as Solomon Vines, 21, of the 800 block of Foster St.

The driver of the Elantra was transported to Nazareth Hospital and is listed in stable condition. ••
