Kutztown University will have 29 student-athletes representing its baseball program for the 2021 season, including freshman catcher Colin Kelly and freshman outfielder Ethan Martini, both graduates of Father Judge.
Kutztown kicked off its season last weekend with two doubleheaders against Frostburg State (Maryland). The Golden Bears went 7-4 in a limited non-conference slate in 2020 before the season was shut down due to the coronavirus. ••
The University of Rhode Island announced the fall 2020 dean’s list. To be included on the dean’s list, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Among the members of the dean’s list is Maureen Kennedy. ••
Some 110 Kutztown University students, including Lauren Hirschman, have been inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success as part of the fall 2020 class. To be inducted at KU, students must attend an orientation, a three-hour leadership training seminar, three success networking team meetings and three speaker broadcasts featuring leading figures delivering success-related messages to members. ••
Katelyn Ostaszewski and Haleigh Cattalo are members of the Kutztown University softball team, which opened its season last Friday at Millersville. Kutztown hadn’t played since March 14 of last year due to the global pandemic shutdown. Ostaszewski, an infielder, is an Archbishop Ryan graduate who was All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East in 2019. Cattalo, a freshman infielder, is also a Ryan graduate. ••
