Police continue to investigate fatal Somerton accident

Police continue to investigate Thursday’s accident that killed a 75-year-old Bustleton woman.

The incident took place at 12:50 p.m. Anna Guzovets, of the 1500 block of Stoney Lane, was walking through the parking lot of the Hendrix Center, 11685 Bustleton Ave., when she was struck by a 2006 Ford Econoline 250 van. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver of the van was a 62-year-old man from the 700 block of Kentwood St., in Somerton. The driver was traveling south in the parking lot and struck three other vehicles during the event.

The driver became ill while the scene was being processed, and he was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for evaluation. He was not admitted.

The Police Accident Investigation Division will look at surveillance video to determine the sequence of events, and check out the mechanical condition of the vehicle before deciding if charges should be filed. ••
