St. Hubert taking summer trip
The sixth annual St. Hubert Summer Fun Trip will take place on Tuesday, June 22. The day will start with a one-hour ride on an Atlantic City cruise ship.
Next is a four-hour stay at Resorts Casino, with $10 back in slot cash. The day will end with a sitdown dinner and wine tasting at Tomasello Winery, in Hammonton.
A bus will depart St. Hubert at 8:45 a.m. and return at about 9 p.m. Masks must be worn on the trip. Eating and drinking on the bus are prohibited, and there is no bathroom use. Temperatures will be taken as you enter the bus.
The cost is $90, paid in full by May 15.

KleinLife Farmers Market opens April 21
KleinLife, located at 10100 Jamison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, is opening its annual Farmers Market on Wednesdays, from noon to 3 p.m., beginning April 21.
“Much of the fresh fruits and produce we will be offering is being grown on campus in our own hoop houses and community garden. Other foods are being provided through The Common Market, a nonprofit food distributor,” said John Eskate, director of RSVP Philadelphia, which manages and operates the weekly Farmers Market in cooperation with KleinLife.
The Farmers Market will follow COVID-19 procedures to ensure customer safety. All customers will be required to wear a mask and will be spaced apart using chalk lines on the ground.
Food items offered for sale will be posted on a list and customers can inform RSVP Philadelphia staff of their choices. The produce will be weighed and totaled, assembled and packed. It will be untouched before it is purchased. The Farmers Market will accept cash, a SNAP/EBT access card, Philly Food Bucks and FMNP vouchers. Receipts will be provided.
The Farmers Market will be open every Wednesday through the fall. All profits from the sales will support RSVP Philadelphia’s Home Delivered Meals Program, which provides 70,000 meals annually to homebound seniors in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties who cannot shop or cook for themselves.

Outdoor painting party
The Chaverim of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim is holding a mobile painting party on Sunday, April 25, at 1 p.m. in the parking lot (9768 Verree Road, Philadelphia, PA 19115).
The rain date is May 2.
The cost is $30 per person and includes individually wrapped snacks, drinks and a wine bottle to decorate. Masks must be worn at all times. Make checks payable to CSS – Art and mail to the above address. RSVPs must be received in the office no later than April 22.

Tea will celebrate Golda Meir
The Sisterhood of the Congregations of Shaare Shamayim invites you to join them for their virtual Tea with Golda on Monday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $18 per person. The program will be a presentation on the life of Golda Meir, presented by Maxine Goldman.
Each participant will receive a packet of pictures and data.

Upcoming programs at CSS
Congregations of Shaare Shamayim will be hosting a virtual fundraiser on Sunday, May 23, at 4 p.m. It will feature a tour of the Carmel Market of Tel Aviv (Shuk), titled “From Our Jewish Home to Our Jewish Homeland,” led by Danny Stein.
On Monday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m., David Jaison will present “Mentalism Beyond Belief.”
On Tuesday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. there will be a showing of the movie Holy Land Hardball – the dream to bring America’s favorite pastime of baseball to the Middle East.
The cost for this weekend is $40 per program or $80 for all three. Checks must be received by May 19 and include your email address.

Virtual discussion on scrolls
The adult education committee of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim invites the public to a virtual discussion about Czech Torah scrolls on Wednesday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Lois Roman, a trustee of the Memorial Scrolls Trust, will explain how this London-based nonprofit agency oversees the legacy of 1,504 Czech Torah scrolls that survived the Shoah. A large majority of these scrolls have been dispersed on permanent loan to caring communities around the world.
In fact, CSS has one in its lobby. There is no charge for this program, but donations are appreciated.

Phila. High Class of ‘68 meeting in October
Members of the South Philadelphia High School Class of 1968 will meet on Saturday, Oct. 16, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Water St.
Tickets cost $55 and include an open bar and buffet luncheon.
The luncheon is open to all classes of South Philadelphia High.

An all-class reunion for the former George C. Thomas Junior High School will take place on Oct. 2, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Galdo’s, 20th Street and Moyamensing Avenue.
Thomas opened in 1920 at 9th and Johnston streets. It became Mastery Charter School in 2009.
