The Holmesburg Civic Association met last week on Zoom, with guest Rachael Mahoney, community relations officer in the 15th Police District.

Mahoney was asked if the citywide violence is affecting Holmesburg.

“It’s more Frankford,” she said of the 15th district, adding that the East and Southwest police divisions are being heavily impacted.

Residents of the 15th district can email her at [email protected].

Neighbors also discussed an auto shop on the 8100 block of Erdrick St., which is in the 8th Police District, that residents say takes up many of the parking spots on the block.

As for abandoned vehicles, residents can call the police department’s neighborhood services unit at 215-685-9500.

For general neighborhood questions, email [email protected].

In other news, CEO John Cambridge said the Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion, 8046 Frankford Ave., will reopen June 5, with new exhibits and critters.

Holmesburg Civic Association will meet again on Tuesday, June 8, at 7:15 p.m. on Zoom. ••
