NewCourtland offers senior living in Burholme

NewCourtland announced the acquisition of Burholme Senior Residences, formerly under the management of Wesley Enhanced Living.

The community, 7023 Rising Sun Ave., offers 62 independent living apartment homes with one- or two-bedroom options. Each home offers a fully equipped kitchen. There is an activities room, wheelchair access and on-site laundry, parking, social services staff and management offices. Utilities and internet services come at no extra cost to residents.

Each resident’s rent is capped at 30% of their monthly income.

“We are thrilled to welcome the residents of the Apartments at Burholme to the NewCourtland Network,” said Joe Duffey, NewCourtland’s president and CEO. “Our history is rooted in more than 100 years of care, compassion and service to communities throughout the city of Philadelphia. Now, we are proud to bring that mission to Burholme, as we continue to offer fulfilling opportunities and affordable retirement options.”

Other local NewCourtland housing options are the Apartments at Manor Glen, 8403 Roosevelt Blvd.; the Apartments at St. Bart’s, 5364 Jackson St.; and the Apartments at Meadow House, 4649 Paul St.

“At the Apartments of Burholme, we’ve invested in our infrastructure and security,” Duffey said. “This started by replacing older flooring, and by making cosmetic updates to residential and communal spaces. Additionally, we’ve upgraded our 24-hour security system, which includes call stations in case of any emergency, fob entry, a new intercom system for convenient and safe admission of friends and family, and a more private entry that offers security and comfort to those entering the building.”

Meanwhile, Wesley Enhanced Living will continue to offer personal care to its residents on the campus. ••
