U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle recognized the overall winner and four finalists of his Congressional Art Competition during an event at Community College of Philadelphia’s Northeast Regional Center.
The winner was Lauren Archer, of Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush. The runners-up were two other Rush students, Ann Marie Schippert and Khrystyna Semchuk, along with Nazareth Academy’s Quincey Kilbride and Central’s Kalinda Tran.
Nearly three dozen students from several high schools in Philadelphia entered artwork into this year’s competition. Boyle hosts his district-wide student art competition for grades 9-12 annually. The winning art will be displayed in Washington, D.C., for one year along with the other district winners of this national competition. ••
