Kathleen Tiernan celebrated her 100th birthday in style on Sept. 22 at the Immaculate Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, 2990 Holme Ave.
Kathleen, born Sept. 22, 1921, was treated to a party on the fourth-floor social hall. She wore a tiara with “100” on it and a sash that read, “100 & Fabulous.”
Her children, Kathy Thomas and Joe (and girlfriend Lenora Dechant), joined in the celebration, along with one of her two grandchildren, Kristen Thomas.
The party took place, appropriately, on National Centenarian’s Day. There were balloons, flowers, cards, gifts and cake.
Kathleen entertained the crowd by singing the Andrews Sisters’ classic I Don’t Know Why (I Just Do).
Kathleen takes part in the center’s organized exercise classes every morning.
A Kensington native, she moved to Mayfair and Holme Circle before moving to the center five years ago. She worked at a jewelry store and as a bank teller at PSFS. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and country western line dancing. ••
