A Mayfair resident has been charged in Monday afternoon’s shooting death of a man who was driving near Rowland and Ryan avenues, outside Abraham Lincoln High School.
Aaron K. Scott, 21, of the nearby 3400 block of Aldine St., was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, attempt to commit murder, aggravated assaults, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Police identified the victim as Jeffrey Carter, 65, of the 500 block of Strahle St. in Fox Chase.
The incident took place at about 2:48 p.m., when plainclothes police officers on the 3300 block of Ryan Ave. heard gunshots. Police observed a suspect firing a handgun. He was immediately arrested, and the weapon recovered.
Carter, who was driving by the scene, was shot in the head and transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m.
A second victim, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and neck. He is in critical condition at Jefferson Torresdale. ••
