The police department has identified the woman who was murdered Saturday night in Lawncrest as Jessica Covington, of the 6100 block of Palmetto St.
At 8:35 p.m., police responded to Palmetto Street for a shooting. Covington, 32, who was 7 months pregnant, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
A fire department medic unit transported her to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m. Her unborn baby was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing with Homicide Detectives Division. ••
