The Greater Bustleton Civic League, meeting last week on Zoom, approved legalization of an existing day care and a sign.
Discover Daycare operates out of 9201 Old Bustleton Ave., home of Temple Beth Ami, though the synagogue does not run the day care.
The property’s residential zoning requires the day care to go in front of the Zoning Board of Adjustment. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 21.
The day care operates weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There are five teachers and up to 45 kids.
In other news from the meeting, Capt. Bob Ritchie, commander of the 7th Police District, said the district headquarters, at Bustleton Avenue and Bowler Street, will accept new, unwrapped toys until Dec. 17 for Toys for Tots.
Jack O’Hara, president of the GBCL, said he spoke to state Rep. Nancy Guenst about the proposed UPS operation at 1 Red Lion Road. According to O’Hara, Guenst said she sides with opponents of the plan, calling it a “mess” and saying she would talk to Gov. Tom Wolf about the project. ••
