Still time to help the needy

The 73rd annual Eleanor Smylie Community Fund drive is still looking to collect more money and find needy people to assist at Christmas, which is just a few days away.

For more than seven decades, Times readers have contributed to the fund, helping their neighbors provide holiday dinners and gifts for their children. The fund is named in memory of the Times’ late chairwoman and matriarch of the family that owned the newspaper for 65 years.

All money collected will be used to buy gift cards for struggling individuals and families. We will make deliveries up until Christmas Eve.

We are asking our readers to come through for their neighbors. We’ll publish your name in a list of donors. If you prefer to donate anonymously, we will honor that request.

If you would like to request help, or if you know of someone who could use assistance during the holidays, take a few minutes to write a letter. The address is:

Eleanor Smylie Community Fund

130 Twinbridge Drive

Pennsauken, NJ 08110

Everything about the process will remain anonymous.

If you are able to donate, please send a check to the Eleanor Smylie Community Fund at the address above. Any amount will help.

Thank you for your consideration, and Merry Christmas.
