Planning underway for All-Star Labor Classic

The Planning Committee for the 2022 Philadelphia All Star Labor Classic recently gathered at the Sprinklerfitters Union Hall, 14004 McNulty Road, for the kick-off meeting for this year’s event, to be held Sunday, April 10.

The 35th annual Philadelphia All-Star Labor Classic, a showcase of the region’s best male and female high school basketball talent, will take place Sunday, April 10, at Ridley High School. This annual event is the signature fundraiser of the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council, led by Business Manager Ryan N. Boyer. In addition to games featuring City Boys vs. Suburban Boys and City Girls vs. Suburban Girls, this year’s event will bring back the Labor All-Stars vs. Media All-Stars preliminary game.

“The All-Star Labor Classic is a beloved institution that the Building Trades Council is proud to have staged for the past 35 years,” Boyer said. “We’re grateful to Ridley High School for once again agreeing to host this iconic showcase of the region’s best youth basketball talent.”

The Philadelphia All-Star Labor Classic provides all 60 male and female high school participants with $500 scholarships and raises funds for the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Since its inception 35 years ago, the Philadelphia All-Star Labor Classic has raised nearly $3 million for local students and charities.

All monies raised through the annual classic come through a myriad of sponsorship opportunities. Any company or individual interested in sponsoring any element of the event can email laborclassic@gmail.com or visit the event Facebook Page at Philadelphia All Star Labor Classic. ••
