Keeping the dream alive

The Christ Mission of the Apostolic Faith, 1100 Hartel Ave., on Saturday hosted a Humanitarian and True Family Value Award Program.

The event was sponsored by the American Clergy Leadership Conference and came two days before Martin Luther King Day. The theme was Let Us Keep the Dream Alive.

Gary Grisafi, vice president of the Burholme Civic Association and Republican leader of the 53rd Ward, spoke and handed out awards to 11 honorees.

Congratulatory remarks were also made by the Rev. Dr. Luonne Rouse.

Other speakers included Dr. Alfonso Williams, who fought for civil rights along with King. Community leaders in attendance included Al Taubenberger, Aaron Bashir, Linwood Holland and Sovin Chou. ••
