Holme Circle Civic Association corresponding secretary Elsie Stevens plants spring flowers at the neighborhood welcome sign.
The Holme Circle Civic Association on Wednesday night discussed a recent underage drinking party in Pennypack Park, near the 2600 block of Winchester Ave. [near Axe Factory road].
Neighbors were particularly enraged to see parents drive the teenagers to the party site and pop their trunks so the kids could carry cases of beer into the woods. Some were seen carrying open cans while walking down the street. Calls to 911 were made, but police never responded.
The post-St. Patrick’s Day party took place on March 19, and some residents and city Department of Parks and Recreation staff cleaned up the mess the next day.
Many of the partiers wore green shirts, though some wore Father Judge shirts.
Neighbor Elsie Stevens said she might contact Judge president Brian King.
Trish Rosati, 8th Police District community relations officer, said she will check on the 911 calls, alert the captain and make a roll call complaint.
Neighbors said another problem is the lack of park rangers.
