Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 last week collected donations that will benefit Ukrainian citizens fleeing their war-torn country.
“The need for donations and basic needs continues today in Ukraine,” said FOP Lodge 5 President John McNesby. “In March, we launched a very successful donation drive and local residents have reached out again to seek the help of local police and their families.
“The images we see on television each and every night from Ukraine are simply gut-wrenching. We wanted to roll up our sleeves and help those residents fleeing their homes and communities. The need for supplies is simply overwhelming, and we hope our small gesture will provide some relief.”
The FOP donations will be transported to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, 1206 Cottman Ave., and prepped for delivery to the Poland/Ukraine border.
Items that were accepted included soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioners, sanitary products, baby wipes/diaper creams, socks, napkins (wet/dry), batteries, sanitizers, razors, hand/feet warmers, gloves/mittens, first-aid supplies, flashlights, trash bags, cold/flu medicine, chap stick, baby-bottles and backpacks (dark colors). ••
