State Rep. Jared Solomon on Saturday partnered with the Philadelphia Police Department and the youth organization Leaders of Tomorrow for a second annual basketball tournament at Tarken Recreation Center.
The event seeks to bring police and young people together and discourage gun violence.
Leaders of Tomorrow founder Juan Adames presented jerseys to Solomon, Chief Inspector Altovise Love-Craighead and Claudio Roman, chief operating officer of Citywide Community Counseling Services, an outpatient mental health clinic in Kensington.
The day featured a moonbounce, music, water ice, ice cream, pizza, cotton candy, mental health screenings, COVID testing and an appearance by the Barbera Bear. ••
