Some members of the Abraham Lincoln High School football team from its heyday gathered for a recent reunion.
Lincoln had strong teams from 1956-60, going 42-4-1.
The 1956 team played North Catholic for the city championship. The following year, Lincoln was undefeated until losing to Roxborough in the Public League title game.
In 1958, Lincoln had its best season ever, going 10-0 and beating La Salle, 28-20, for the city title in front of more than 15,000 fans at Franklin Field.
In 1959, the Railsplitters finished 9-1, followed by a 7-1-1 record the next season. ••
