The 74th annual Eleanor Smylie Community Fund drive is back, hoping to collect money and find needy people to assist during the holidays.
For more than seven decades, Northeast Times readers have contributed to the fund, helping their neighbors provide holiday dinners and gifts for their children. The fund is named in memory of the Times’ late chairwoman and matriarch of the family that owned the newspaper for 65 years.
All money collected will be used to buy gift cards for struggling individuals and families.
While Christmas and Hanukkah are a month or so away, needy neighbors would love to know soon that they will have some help this holiday season.
We’ll publish the names of donors. If you prefer to donate anonymously, we will honor that request.
If you would like to request help, or if you know of someone who could use assistance during the holidays, write a letter to:
Eleanor Smylie Community Fund
130 Twinbridge Drive
Pennsauken, NJ 08110
Include a name and contact information for an agency or person for verification.
Everything about the process will remain anonymous.
If you are able to donate, please send a check to the Eleanor Smylie Community Fund at the address above. Any amount will help.
Thank you for your consideration, and Happy Thanksgiving. ••
