Citizens (formerly Citizens Bank) named Riverfront North Partnership a 2023 Champion in Action in the category of Supporting Environmental Sustainability.

The award consists of $35,000 in funding and promotional and volunteer support.

“As a native of Northeast Philadelphia who grew up going to Pennypack Park, it’s especially meaningful to award Riverfront North Partnership as the new Champion in Action,” said Dan Fitzpatrick, president, Mid-Atlantic Region, Citizens. “By connecting neighborhoods to nature and preserving the Delaware River landscape, RNP is helping to reduce erosion and storm water pollution, while increasing the public spaces for residents to enjoy. We thank them for doing this important work for the city.”

“We are excited and grateful to create a space for all of the community volunteers who have helped to plant 1,400 trees at Pennypack on the Delaware Park,” said Stephanie Phillips, executive director of Riverfront North Partnership. “Our volunteers are truly Champions in Action and now, thanks to Citizens, they will have resources to assure the vibrancy and biodiversity of this park.” ••
