National Pizza Day was celebrated a day early last week at the Northeast Times’ fifth annual PizzaPalooza, which took place at Fraternal Order of Lodge 5.

There were samples from Gaeta’s Tomato Pies, Momma Mia’s Pizzeria, Charlie’s Pizzeria, Chickie’s & Pete’s, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza City (Red Lion Road) and Heckler Hot Sauce.

Joseph’s handed out coupons for a free cheesesteak with purchase of a pizza at its newly reopened location in Fox Chase.

DJ Bobby Sacco provided music.

A couple of political candidates were on hand: John Sabatina, the endorsed Democratic candidate for Register of Wills, and Sam Oropeza, Republican candidate for City Council at large.

In a vote of guests, Pizza City won favorite pizza. ••
