Holmesburg Civic Association last week welcomed two representatives of the city’s 311 system.
Daniel Ramos and Charena Johnson explained Philly311, which is the city’s customer service center for non-emergency inquiries.
Residents can report an abandoned vehicle, graffiti, illegal dumping, building violations or pothole or other street damage in a variety of ways.
In addition, they can request information pertaining to city events, street closures and directory assistance.
They can call 311; go to https://www.phila.gov/departments/philly311/; write a letter to City Hall Room 167, Philadelphia, PA 19107; or use Twitter, Facebook or the mobile app.
The 311 call center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ramos recommended calling after 6 p.m.
The walk-in center is closed.
Ramos said 311 receives about 4,000 contacts a day, with 75 percent of that total being information requests. Also, some of those 4,000 contacts are repeats.
Meanwhile, The Star Players are looking for some young males to join the ensemble or have small speaking roles in an upcoming production of Mamma Mia!
The show is June 2-4 at Venice Island Performing Arts Center in Manayunk. Rehearsals take place at Holmesburg Recreation Center, 4500 Rhawn St.
