DeSales University Division of Performing Arts recently held its 23rd annual film festival. Kevin Regan, a DeSales theater major, earned the Best Acting Performance award in the film Hello, It’s Me. ••
Widener University, in partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10 and Telemundo62, recognized the 104 winners of the Widener University High School Leadership Awards. Winners included Christopher Yengbeh (Archbishop Ryan), junior class president who participates in the No Place for Hate Club to combat antisemitism, racism and bullying; Daniel Nogowski (Franklin Towne Charter) High School, who has coordinated multiple food drives to help families in need and mentored freshmen in need of extra support; and Emily Boothman (Philadelphia Academy Charter High School), who has provided support and guidance to staff for helping her brother, who has autism, when he feels unsettled. Winners were invited to a March 30 ceremony at the National Constitution Center. ••
Kutztown University athletics honored 95 student-athletes last week as part of the Pennsylvania Alpha Omega Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma in the National College Athlete Honor Society. To be inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, a student-athlete must attend a four-year accredited college or university, achieve at least junior academic standing and must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of a 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale). Local members of the chapter are Casey Remolde, a St. Basil graduate and member of the basketball team, and Anastasia Fratanduono, an Archbishop Ryan graduate and member of the cross country and track and field teams. ••
Jenna Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton. Miller said, “I am proud to have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and human resource management. After joining the Air Force Reserves in 2017, I looked for a military-friendly school, and Thomas Edison was more than accommodating. Balancing working full time while being a student and in the Reserves was challenging but I knew education was important for my future growth and development.” ••
