Giving families of fallen officers a happy Easter

Jimmy Binns and the family of Temple Police Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald

Jimmy Binns, president and CEO of Holiday Meals for Heroes, on Friday welcomed families of local police officers who are severely disabled or died in the line of duty to a breakfast at Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting.

The families also took home Easter dinner donations.

The event was sponsored by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 98. The program furnishes breakfast and dinner meals to area families of fallen police officers at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Families of local fallen officers who were in attendance were Chuck Cassidy, Isabel Nazario, Timothy Simpson, John Pawlowski, Brian Lorenzo, James O’Connor, Gary Skerski, Walter DeWitt and Christopher Fitzgerald.

Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan, who was severely injured in an accident as he headed to work on Rhawn Street in 2019, was at the breakfast. So was officer Giovanni Maysonet, shot in February in West Philadelphia.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance, and kids took part in an Easter egg hunt. ••
