Sherri Cohen, a Democratic candidate for City Council at large, spoke at a Monday lunch meeting at the Northeast Older Adult Center, 8101 Bustleton Ave.
Cohen was joined by her sister-in-law, Mona Cohen.
The candidate, 68, said her top issues include schools, neighborhoods and senior citizens. She said the Northeast needs another city health center, as the current one is overcrowded.
She’d like to see the city offer more programs to help seniors remain in their homes longer. Another option for some seniors, she believes, is small group homes.
Also on her agenda is hiring more consumer advocates for the city health department.
Cohen, daughter of the late Councilman David Cohen, will be listed second on the ballot among 27 candidates. The top five finishers move on to the general election. ••
