ETCA skeptical of planned Milnor St. homes

The East Torresdale Civic Association on Monday night heard a proposal for 12 homes at 9655 Milnor St.

Since the current site is home to just one large house, attorney Kevin Greenberg was not expecting residents to immediately embrace the plan.

He was right.

The property, just south of Glen Foerd, was formerly owned by Pete Ciarrocchi, owner of Chickie’s & Pete’s.

The new ownership consists of four couples, who plan four-bedroom riverfront homes for each family. In addition, there would be eight three-bedroom townhouses. A homeowners association would be created.

One man suggested that the owners build only three houses, an idea that drew applause from the crowd. Others worried about parking.

One resident put one of the property owners – a Chinatown businessman – on the spot by asking him if he supported the proposed 76ers arena in Chinatown. The man said he was neutral.

Greenberg and his client will appear at a future meeting.
