The Block Gives Back recently held its annual Block 2 School celebration along the 6800 block of Torresdale Ave.

On Aug. 19, the group handed out 1,000 backpacks filled with notebooks, folders, pencils, pencil cases, rulers, glue sticks, crayons and hand sanitizer.

The event also featured food, drinks, inflatables, a dunk tank, a DJ, arts and crafts, cornhole and vendors. Paragon Home Care raffled off four bicycles and two gift baskets.

City Councilman Mike Driscoll and state Reps. Pat Gallagher and Joe Hohenstein stopped by, and the Block gave Driscoll aide Michele Fleming an award for her support of the group. ••
