Bagging hunger at ShopRite

McMenamin Family ShopRite, with locations at 9910 Frankford Ave. and 11000 Roosevelt Blvd., last week hosted Help Bag Hunger events.

The events were held in recognition of September being national Hunger Action Month.

ShopRite customers round up their bills to the nearest dollar or contribute money to the fund.

At the Boulevard store, volunteers came from Engine 62, the 7th Police District and the office of state Rep. Martina White. Money was raised through raffles, a prize wheel and the sale of coffee and doughnuts.

The volunteer baggers were busy at the Sept. 12 event, as Tuesdays are 5 percent off for shoppers 65 and older. ••
