The Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation outpatient facility held a grand-opening ceremony last week in a free-standing building at 10700 Knights Road, adjacent to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
The new facility offers a range of physical rehabilitation services with state-of-the-art gym equipment, stationary bikes, seven private treatment rooms, five treatment bays with privacy curtains, televisions and artwork, all designed to enhance recovery and help patients achieve their therapy goals while staying close to home.
Services offered include a general evaluation; physical/occupational/speech/hand and lymphedema therapy; oncology and vestibular (balance) rehabilitation; Parkinson’s disease and voice impairment treatment; and electromyography testing.
The property includes free off-street parking, lockers, a zen garden, an open-floor layout, high ceilings, plenty of natural lighting and green space on the exterior, giving a quiet and serene atmosphere.
“If you look out these windows, you don’t know you’re on Knights Road,” said Rich Galup, Jefferson regional chief operating officer. “It was built to promote healing.”
Galup believes the new facility can be “game changing” for folks in the Northeast.
Jefferson Health leaders welcome the community to tour the new facility and meet employees. Most major insurance carriers, including Medicaid, are accepted. Charity care is also available. If the facility doesn’t offer a particular service, a referral can be made.
Aria purchased the 7,000-square-foot building before it merged with Jefferson in 2016. The building had been home to the Kardon Center for Creative Arts Therapy.
Before the move to the new building, rehab services were located inside Jefferson Torresdale. The money to renovate the building was raised by the Jefferson Health-Northeast Foundation board.
The walls feature artwork of the Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, Flyers, Philadelphia Museum of Art, City Hall and Liberty Bell and the inspirational quote, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” ••
