Farrell Elementary School students line up for Mayor Jim Kenney’s autograph.

Mayor Jim Kenney last week was at Pelbano Recreation Center, 8101 Bustleton Ave., to break ground on more than $1.3 million in investments, funded by the city’s Rebuild program.

Improvements set to take place at Pelbano include demolition and replacement of the current sprayground, a new multigenerational playground, demolition and resurfacing of the basketball court, new basketball and volleyball equipment, landscaping and benches.

Kenney signed autographs for Farrell Elementary School students, who took part in the groundbreaking ceremony.

Others on hand included Kira Strong, Rebuild executive director; Orlando Rendon, acting commissioner, city Department of Parks and Recreation; members of the Farrell Home and School Association; and Lee Horne, of Rhawnhurst Civic Association. ••
