The Upper Holmesburg Civic Association last week presented college scholarships to two recent high school graduates during its monthly meeting at St. Dominic’s Marian Hall.
The award winners were Alexander Olvera and Victoria Gonsiewski, both 2023 graduates. Olvera graduated from Father Judge, Gonsiewski from MaST Community Charter School.
The scholarships are to Holy Family University, and the winners were chosen based on academics and community involvement.
The community scholarships are part of a 10-year, $1 million community benefits agreement among the civic association, Holy Family and NewCourtland, for redevelopment of the former Liddonfield Homes housing project.
Also at the Nov. 16 meeting, Upper Holmesburg Civic unveiled the latest additions to its Hometown Heroes banner program. ••
