A chance to help the needy

Hanukkah continues through Dec. 15, while Christmas is less than two weeks away.

Many people in the Northeast are shopping for gifts and planning holiday feasts.

Others, however, are struggling.

The Times hopes to help those less fortunate people in our community, with an assist from its readers.

The 75th annual Eleanor Smylie Community Fund outreach program — named in memory of our late chairwoman — will use money collected to buy supermarket gift cards for individuals and families.

For those making donations, we’ll publish your names. We’d like to thank the Perseverance Encampment No. 135 for its $500 donation.

Please let us know if you want your donation to remain anonymous.

If you would like to request assistance, or if you know of someone who could use help, write a letter to:

Eleanor Smylie Community Fund

130 Twinbridge Drive

Pennsauken, NJ 08110

Include a name and contact information for an agency or person for verification.

Everything about the process will remain anonymous.

If you are able to donate, please send a check to the Eleanor Smylie Community Fund at the address above. Any amount would be appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration. ••
