Nazareth Academy High School announced the appointment of Mrs. Patricia Quinn as principal. Quinn had been serving as interim principal since August, when Jim Meredith left to become principal at Lansdale Catholic. Quinn had been a faculty member since 1998, and later academic dean and assistant principal for academic affairs until being elevated to principal.
Quinn has a degree from Holy Family in biology, with a concentration in medical technology. She then went on to Drexel University and earned a master’s degree in clinical microbiology. She also has a master’s in chemistry education from Penn. She began teaching chemistry at Nazareth in 1998. She also taught honors and advanced-placement chemistry, along with numerous college preparatory, honors, and advanced-placement course offerings.
Quinn has a background in faculty professional development and curriculum as it relates to 21st-century teaching and learning. She has developed academic and co-curricular initiatives, including the advancement of the STREAM curriculum, to serve the students.
Nazareth, under Quinn, will continue to provide an experience that seeks excellence in academics as well as in all facets of student life, including fine arts, athletics and extracurricular activities.
Quinn said, “I view education as a continuous process where daily reflection is paramount and affirms that students are the focus, and their successes are fundamental to the mission and outcome of the academy. With over 25 years of teaching experience and six years as assistant principal, I am very eager to take part in our students’ high school journey.”
Nazareth president Denise LePera said, “Uniting our efforts in this joint endeavor, we will forge ahead to strengthen and enhance the kind of education that will prepare young women prepared to take their place as our leaders of the future. Together we will advance the mission and articulate the Catholic identity of Nazareth Academy with passion and vision while modeling faith-centered leadership.”
Quinn will lead all aspects of academics, guidance, college counseling, athletics and student life. LePera will continue to oversee Nazareth’s operational and administrative functions, including marketing, development, advancement, admissions and finance.
Quinn and her husband, Marty, have been married for 41 years. They have two children. Son Marty is a 2002 graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep and is a finance executive at Johnson & Johnson. Daughter Meghan is a 2004 graduate of Nazareth and teaches Latin in the Lower Merion School District. The Quinns also have a 15-month-old grandson, Connor. ••
