Tori Schmidt, a Morrell Park resident and a 2022 graduate of MaST Community Charter School, was recently elected vice president of the Pace University Film Club. Schmidt is a second semester sophomore studying film and screenwriting at the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, which is located in Lower Manhattan.
John Swoyer, CEO of MaST, said, “Tori, through a program called ‘Tori in the Halls,’ brought a creative reporting to the MaST High School in an entertaining and enthusiastic way. She did this through unique segments, staff interviews and an out-of-the-box approach to highlighting all the great things going on at MaST.”
Schmidt is also a host on WPUB, Pace University’s students-run radio station, where she hosts a weekly show focusing on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and is a performer with Setters Unscripted, the school’s improv troupe.
“Not only did she work on being a great actor, she worked to better the entire show. She stepped up her commitment by taking a leadership role in our productions,” said Melissa Hartner, director and producer at MaST, after hearing of Schmidt’s success in New York.
Schmidt has been on the dean’s list since her arrival at Pace, and is enjoying the diversity and big-city atmosphere. ••
