St. Dom’s says so long to Father Ed Brady

St. Dominic Parish held a reception for the Rev. Edward Brady, a resident of the rectory, following his final Mass in the church.

Brady, who had also been chaplain for the Holy Redeemer Health System, will now be a parochial vicar at St. Gabriel Parish in Norwood, Delaware County.

Brady was popular at St. Dominic, celebrating the Saturday 4:30 p.m. vigil Mass and offering a Word of the Week at the start of his homily.

During his final homily, he and parishioners joined in singing the closing tune from the old Carol Burnett Show, “I’m so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh or sing a song. Seems we just get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say so long.” And everyone tugged their ear, as Burnett did to tell her grandmom she was doing well and thinking of her. ••
