• Kutztown University recorded 243 student-athletes on the 2023-24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s scholar-athlete list. To be eligible for PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. There were six local student-athletes on the list. Richard Paczewski, an Archbishop Ryan graduate, is a wide receiver on the football team; Casey Remolde and Shannon Remolde, both graduates of St. Basil, are guards on the basketball team; Anastasia Fratanduono, a Ryan graduate, is on the cross country and track teams; Chelsea Ritter and Carly Walsh, both graduates of Ryan, are defenders on the soccer team.
• Abigail Malin was named to the dean’s list at Wilkes University for the spring 2024 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must obtain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and carry at least 12 credits.
• Local residents were among the more than 1,650 students who were named to the University of Scranton’s dean’s list for the 2024 spring semester. The dean’s list recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Local students on the list are Kira E. Marino (sophomore, biology major); Samantha R. Sonnie (sophomore, journalism and electronic media); Aneliese M. Ewerth (freshman, communication sciences and disorders); Iris Sanchez (freshman, health administration); Keri L. Gontz (sophomore, nursing); Ava R. Noel (sophomore, nursing); Teresa R. Fernandes (junior, communication sciences and disorders); Danielle L. McFadden (junior, health administration); Nicole L. McLaughlin (junior, health administration).
• Albright’s Caleb Ferns and Zycara Jones made the dean’s list at Albright. Ferns, a Holy Ghost Prep graduate, is majoring in history. Jones, a graduate of Hill-Freedman World Academy, is majoring in arts administration/theater. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a GPA of 3.75 or better.
• Vladyslav Kunov was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Kunov was initiated at Penn State. Kunov is among about 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.
• Govenina Ruffin and Navil Perez Lantigua were among more than 600 members of the Alvernia University Class of 2024. Ruffin earned a Master of Arts degree. Lantigua received a Bachelor of Science degree.
• David Mamalat was named to the dean’s list at Presbyterian College (South Carolina) for the spring 2024 semester for outstanding academic achievement. ••
