DeVal Lifecycle Support recently held a 70th anniversary barbecue celebration and ribbon cutting at its new facility at 4851 Cottman Ave.
The company, formerly known as DeVal Corporation, already has main buildings and a storage yard at nearby 7341 Tulip St.
DeVal is a mechanical manufacturer of aviation, armament and ground support equipment, and is a small business-certified HUBZone contractor for the Department of Defense. It is a full-service, start-to-finish, build-to-print Original Equipment Manufacturer, with extensive high-precision machining capabilities.
One of the company’s mottos is, “No air support without ground support.”
Sam Thevanayagam has been the owner since 2017. He spoke at the ceremony, along with chief operating officer Rohit Bhalla and director of quality Derrick Whitfield. Pastor Paul Jackson blessed the new facility. Legacy award trophies were given to 13 retirees.
Among those in attendance were City Councilman Mike Driscoll, state Sen. Jimmy Dillon and state Rep. Pat Gallagher. Driscoll credited aide Terry Devlin with helping DeVal acquire the new building.
The celebration also included an ice cream truck, cornhole and a performance by the Aqua String Band. ••
