The 2nd and 7th police district National Night Out celebration took place in the Fox Chase Elementary School school yard on Aug. 13, delayed a week by a rainy weather forecast.
The celebration featured more than 80 vendors.
Visitors were able to get free slices of pizza from Joseph’s, sliders from Mission BBQ, water ice from Rita’s, cartoon portraits and more.
State Sen. Jimmy Dillon and his office organized the event.
The Barbera Bear and Gelati Girl, the Rita’s mascot, mingled with the crowd.
Among those in attendance were Register of Wills John Sabatina, city election commissioners Lisa Deeley and Seth Bluestein, state Rep. Anthony Bellmon, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, Chief Inspector Michael McCarrick, Rockledge Mayor James Caffrey and Police Chief John Gallagher and legislative candidates Sean Dougherty and Joe Picozzi.
Mark Mroz, the 2nd Police District community relations officer, served as DJ.
Before the event, the 2nd and 7th districts held a community bike ride. After the ride, there was a drawing for 18 new bicycles. ••
