Philly egg roll brand Rock N Rolls, 2903 Holme Ave., is hosting a free back-to-school haircut event on Friday, Aug. 23, from noon to 3 p.m.
Modern Male Barber Academy’s haircut bus will roll up in front of Rock N Rolls to provide free haircuts to students of all ages. Rock N Rolls will also offer free egg roll lunch boxes containing an egg roll with fries and a drink for kids receiving haircuts.
Throughout her eight years as a business owner, Rock N Rolls founder Bella “Shamaya” Oberlton’s charitable efforts have included paying customers’ bills during the coronavirus pandemic and hosting prom glam giveaways.
Earlier this month, Oberlton hosted a dinner giveaway on Instagram, treating eight aspiring black female entrepreneurs to a night out at the 2023 James Beard Award-winning restaurant, Kalaya, where she shared advice and her experience as a black female business owner.
“As a mother I know how pricey haircuts can be around this time when you’re also buying school supplies,” Oberlton said. “I’m grateful to have this opportunity to give back to my community and help these kids look their best as they enter the new school year.” To register for a free haircut, visit https://mailchi.mp/44b2397f99b1/free-hair-cuts. ••
