Speed humps and police response, please
We have been part of an unsuccessful effort to date to have speed humps installed on the 700 block of Longshore Avenue. Our block is one of the most diverse in the city with a mixture of seniors and new families with children of every ethnic group. Since March 2023 we have attempted to work with Councilperson Phillips’ office and state Rep. Bellmon’s office on traffic safety issues on the block as well as on Oxford Avenue between Disston and Knorr where the avenue serpentines through the neighborhood and numerous accidents occur. So far, no luck but we will keep trying to satisfy this safety concern in what Mayor Parker calls a middle neighborhood she is concerned about. We also noted two Sundays ago when a five-car accident occurred with two injuries in the middle of our block that the police don’t respond. I know they are busy but responding to accidents especially those where injuries occur and the cause should be looked at, but they don’t. I am not sure who decided it wasn’t important to respond but it seems to me it is a basic function of policing and interacting with the community. Not responding tends to aggravate the notion of lawlessness.

A week on Mars
Did you know that Labor Day goes back to 1882? Yes, labor has changed big time from those early years. Now you hear words like artificial intelligence, robots, computers and working from home. Centuries have passed and human life has changed. Who knows, some day people will take vacations to Mars and Jupiter. Possibly, even living on these planets. One thing is for certain, work has changed and it will continue to change in the years to come.

Harris is another Biden
Born in 1933 in Philadelphia, I was drafted for service and took basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Went to school there and met more friends and was sent to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland for more schooling. Two soldiers in their uniforms and two of us in civilian clothes passed through Delaware, stopped to eat, entered a big restaurant and we sat down to order, but the waitress would not take our orders and told us to wait, it was too busy. After over a half-hour, I demanded to see the manager and when he finally came out to talk to me, told me they don’t serve black people. I got in his face and said he is in the service and I received applause from the patrons. In walked two Delaware state troopers and told us to leave while we were still walking.
I was a Democrat all those years until after Obama and Joe Biden was on his ticket. Biden was raised in a racist state till the late 1960s. Biden made a statement that if black people don’t vote for him, they ain’t black. That’s why I voted Republican and Donald Trump. Joe Biden as vice president knew that the law was going after his family. As president, he had his chance to retaliate against all Americans by opening the border to all. My prayers go out to the families whose loved ones were killed or injured by immigrants, and Biden and Harris took no responsibility.
The Afghanistan withdrawal was a catastrophe. After the laughing hyena’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, all the people are laughing at all the problems Biden and Harris created. The death and wounding of our soldiers is a mortal sin.
So far, $5 billion to house the immigrants. Our needs are workers paying taxes to run the military, government, police department, schools, etc. If our generals had the power to do something to protect our borders, shame on them.
What Biden has done sounds like a vendetta against all Americans. Miss Harris is like a clone of Joe Biden. Harris threw Biden under the bus for her own personal gains. Harris is lying in public to all, saying in her TV commercial if she’s president she’ll fix the border. Trump has the answer.
Let’s face reality. No working man or woman would do what Biden and Harris did. I think I overheard the Catholic Church is displeased with Joe Biden.
Let’s take a vote from Democrats in the House and Senate. Let’s see how honest they are. You are all to blame for letting Biden and Harris conspire to do what they did and to wait over three years to say Biden is incompetent to be president. Harris knew all along what Biden was doing and did nothing but lie to all Americans.
