Boyle meets with reporter freed from Russian jail

U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-2nd dist.) issued the following statement after meeting one-one-one last week with Evan Gershkovich.

“Seeing Evan safe and free after such a harrowing ordeal fills my heart with deep relief and gratitude. His strength in the face of unimaginable adversity is truly remarkable. The courage and resilience he showed during those dark times are nothing short of inspiring. To see Evan back home safe, sound and with his family brings a sense of peace that words can hardly express.”

Gershkovich, whose parents Mikhail and Ella live in Fishtown, is a reporter for the Wall Street Journal who was covering Russia when he was detained for 16 months on espionage charges. He was convicted and sentenced to 16 years in prison before being released in August in a prisoner exchange. ••
