• Kutztown University has 110 players on its football team. The Golden Bears are coming off a season in which they won Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East, PSAC and Super Region I titles. Kutztown advanced to the NCAA DII semifinals for the first time in program history. Local players are Malik Griffin, a running back who graduated from Neumann-Goretti; Tearran Peete, a defensive lineman who graduated from Father Judge; Isiah Thomas, an offensive lineman who graduated from George Washington; and Rich Paczewski, a wide receiver and graduate of Archbishop Ryan.

• Kalyn Gardener has been named an Albright College Global Scholar. The Global Scholars cohort of 16 first-year students will be housed together in a living learning community throughout their first year, while taking a series of courses together in the fall and spring semesters. Gardener is a graduate of Swenson Arts & Technology High School majoring in Psychology. Open to students exploring any major, Albright’s Global Scholars program provides meaningful study abroad experiences to students who are often “underrepresented” in study abroad programs. Included in the program is a January study-away experience during which Global Scholars explore a particular topic with Albright faculty who are teaching the Scholars’ fall and spring courses. This year’s cohort will study Spanish together, aiding in their study abroad exploration of Ecuador.
• Deborah Choute gained experience as a back-of-house crew member during Albright College’s New York Fashion Week runway show. A graduate of Multi-Cultural Academy Charter School, Choute is studying Fashion: Design. ••
