Keeping it real

I heard a group of blue-collar workers say why they were voting for Donald Trump. They like how he “keeps it real.” How ironic is that statement as reality is what is true. Was it keeping it real when he said the coronavirus was under control and was disappearing, that Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the assassination of JFK, that he has made over 30,000 false claims? Actually, Trump keeps it unreal. Trump is a huckster who appeals to men who are mistaking his macho bluster for the truth. He doesn’t tell it like it is. He tells it like it isn’t. Yet people are buying into it.

Tackling homeless encampments

Folks, I know many of you are concerned, as I am, about the homeless encampments we’ve been seen around Northeast Philly. My team has been working closely with local police, fellow legislators and city and state agencies to find solutions. Too frequently, the process of cleaning up these encampments and connecting people with support is delayed because they’re on private property. We can’t sit back and wait for someone else to solve the problems caused by neglected properties and absentee landlords.

That’s why I’ll soon be introducing legislation to give local governments across Pennsylvania the tools they need to tackle these challenges head-on. My proposal allows municipalities to issue fines to absentee landlords who ignore safety concerns and empowers law enforcement to remove unauthorized encampments when property owners are unresponsive.

This isn’t about punishing people struggling with hardship. It’s about holding absentee landlords accountable and ensuring that our communities are safe and maintain a high quality of life. I hear your concerns loud and clear, and I’m committed to finding solutions in Harrisburg that work for our community.

No common sense

Philly is a no-common-sense city. I recently put my trash can and a lawn bag like you can get at Home Depot that contained bush and tree trimmings out for collection. They picked up the trash can but left the lawn bag. I called 311 and asked why they left the lawn bag behind. I was told that grass and bush clippings must go into a plastic bag. I have put out a paper lawn bag in the past as some of my neighbors have and always was picked up. I  asked then why if you have paper products to be recycled they must be in a paper bag and not plastic. No satisfactory response. Called Councilman Brian O’Neill’s office and got no satisfaction there, either. This is the city that banned plastic bags from stores. I put a biodegradable product in a biodegradable bag and they refuse to take it. Makes no common sense. Maybe they should get together at Council and pass a bill to make it all make sense. No-common-sense Philly.

Josh’s early Passover?

Twenty-four years ago, the Democratic Party nominated the late Joe Lieberman to be the vice presidential candidate for president. Sen. Lieberman was a devout man who took great pride in his religious faith. See, Joe Lieberman was a Jew. That, however, ladies and gentlemen, was your Father’s Democratic Party. That was 2000 not 2024.

Nearly minted 2024 Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, had her first major decision for the 2024 presidential race. Her choice for running mate should have gone to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. Gov. Shapiro is also a man of devout faith. He is also a practicing Jew. Nothing wrong with that at all, right? Even in 2024? Right? No, wrong.

In today’s Democratic Party, that’s a big no-no. A Jewish person on the Democratic national ticket. No way. See, in the “party of inclusion,” the Democrats have to make room for the radicals and anti-Semites on the fringe left. If Gov. Shapiro was the VP nominee, then the pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party would have shouted “Genocide Josh” at campaign events throughout the fall. can’t have that.

So, Ms. Harris gave in to the bigots and hatred on the far left. She chose “Coach” Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, for her running mate. The country is much worse off. The Democratic Party is much worse off. The Harris campaign/administration will be much worse off. There is a lot more to say about Gov. Walz, but today is about the bad and weak judgment of Vice President Harris.

In her first major decision, she failed. She gave in to the pressure of the “Squad” (so that she may win Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin), just so that she can appease Jewish and anti-Israel haters.

Giving in to hate, bigotry and anti-Semites. Now that’s just plain “weird.”
