Secretary-Treasurer Joe Coccio of Local 234 said, “Sean Dougherty works hard every single day, not for his own benefit but for all of yours. That is a rare thing in Harrisburg today, and it’s why the Transport Workers Union has endorsed him. We need more state reps like Sean who are smart, engaged and willing to go the extra mile for their constituents.”

State Rep. Ed Neilson, who chairs the Transportation Committee, said, “We need to elect people to the state House who understand what proper funding means for infrastructure and transportation as a whole and how that affects our communities. Sean Dougherty understands the issues that the transit systems are facing because he rides it every day to work. When the agencies throughout the city call for help, he shows up. When the working men and women need support, he shows up. I am proud to give him my support today.”

Dougherty said he supports necessary funding for public transit, roads and bridges in the 172nd district and across the state.

“I am grateful for the support from the women and men of Transport Workers Union Local 234,” he said. “When I ride SEPTA to work each day I am reminded of the importance of public transit and the necessity of ensuring it is well funded, safe and union-backed. In Harrisburg, I will represent the needs of Northeast Philadelphia and that includes providing infrastructure and funding for public transit, roads and bridges.”

Dougherty faces Republican Aizaz Gill. ••
