Student in Custody After Stabbing Two Staff Members at Northeast Philadelphia Middle School

A scary and unexpected event happened at Castor Gardens Middle School in Northeast Philadelphia that has left everyone on edge.

An 11-year-old student brought a knife into the school and stabbed two staff members during the school day.

The incident happened inside a classroom around noon, shocking students, teachers, and parents.

The two staff members injured were a 63-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman.

The older woman was stabbed in her side and had to go to the hospital, while the younger woman was hurt in her arm but decided not to get medical treatment.

Thankfully, both injuries were minor, and the staff members are expected to recover.

Parents were terrified when they started getting calls and messages from their children about the incident.

Some rushed to the school, fearing the worst.

The school went into lockdown for about an hour and a half while the situation was handled, and the student was taken into custody.

Police recovered the knife and began investigating right away.

The big question everyone is asking is how the knife got past the school’s metal detector.

The school has a detector at the entrance, but somehow it didn’t catch the knife.

This has caused a lot of concern among parents, students, and staff, who are questioning how safe the school really is.

The district says the detector is regularly inspected, but they’re now investigating to figure out what went wrong.

The student who brought the knife has developmental challenges, which adds more complexity to the situation.

Police are working with the student’s parents to decide what to do next.

School officials have asked for some understanding, saying this is a child with special needs, and everyone involved—including the student—was scared.

Counselors were made available to students and staff who needed to talk about what happened.

Some parents chose to take their kids home early, even though the school day continued after the lockdown.

The principal assured everyone that no students were hurt during the incident, but many parents still feel uneasy.

They want to see stronger security measures to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.

This incident has left a lot of people shaken and has raised serious concerns about safety in schools.

While it’s a relief that no one was seriously hurt, the event shows how important it is to have effective security and support systems in place.

Everyone is hoping for answers soon about how the knife got into the school and what can be done to prevent anything like this in the future.
