Vikings Cruises Past George Washington 51-40 in Conference Win

It was a tough night for the George Washington Eagles as they fell to the Northeast Vikings 51-40 in a home conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

From the tip-off, the Vikings’ defense and efficient offense set the tone, and the Eagles just couldn’t find their stride.

Northeast came out firing early, quickly establishing control with a strong first half.

While George Washington kept it close in the opening quarter, trailing just 11-7, the Vikings’ offense exploded in the second.

They had stretched their lead to a comfortable 30-16 by halftime, and the Eagles were left scrambling to answer.

Jonathan Miller, one of Northeast’s key players, was everywhere on the court, finishing with 11 points.

Bobby Perry was right there with him, also contributing 11 points to the Vikings’ total.

However, Northeast was aggressive on both ends.

Sharif Wallace, with nine points, was a constant presence in the paint, pulling down five rebounds and setting up his teammates with three assists.

James Walker, another standout, finished with nine points, while senior guard Jonathan Miller notched another 11.

George Washington tried to keep up in the second half, particularly in the third quarter when they outscored Northeast 13-9, but their 27% shooting overall wasn’t enough to make a dent in the Vikings’ solid lead.

The Eagles struggled to get open looks and found themselves stuck in a scoring drought for much of the game.

Leading the charge for George Washington was senior Jamair McQueen, who finished with five points.

Anderson Dorvil, another senior, added six points and nine rebounds, showing heart and hustle throughout.

But in the end, the Eagles couldn’t capitalize on their limited opportunities, and the Vikings made sure to clamp down defensively.

Northeast’s defense was relentless all game long, forcing George Washington into poor shooting choices and limiting them to only 13 field goals.

The Vikings’ ability to capitalize on turnovers and maintain control of the boards made all the difference.

As the final buzzer sounded with Northeast securing the 51-40 victory, it was clear that their balanced offense and swarming defense had proven too much for the Eagles.

The Vikings improved to 24-25 on the season, while George Washington, also sitting at 24-25, will have to regroup and look ahead to their next game.
