Driver Sought After Hit-and-Run Leaves Woman With Traumatic Brain Injury in Northeast Philadelphia

Authorities are actively searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run incident that left a 47-year-old woman critically injured in Northeast Philadelphia.

Investigators say the driver struck the woman as she crossed the street, then dragged her out of the road before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred on October 8, 2024, at approximately 8:44 a.m., near the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Stanwood Street.

Surveillance footage released by the Philadelphia Police Department on Thursday shows the suspect approaching the woman’s motionless body in the middle of the street before pulling her to the side.

After briefly attending to her, the man was seen returning to his vehicle and driving away before police or paramedics arrived.

The victim, who was in the crosswalk when struck, suffered a traumatic brain injury from the collision.

Investigators are now seeking the public’s help to identify the driver, described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, wearing eyeglasses, a red hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and red, white, and black sneakers.

The suspect is believed to have been driving a dark gray Honda Civic, most likely a 2010-2012 model.

The vehicle was missing its right front hubcap and showed a rust spot on the rear trunk lid.

Police noted the car displayed a temporary Pennsylvania license plate with the number 4691-731.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department as the investigation continues.
