Spring Break is almost here. So, for families in Philadelphia, it’s time to plan something fun and engaging for their kids.
The Spring Break Camp 2025 is officially open for registration, offering a completely free, full-day program for students at Extended Day, Extended Year (EDEY) schools.
From April 14 to April 17, 2025, students will have the chance to take part in an exciting full-day program filled with enriching activities, hands-on learning, and fun trips.
The camp runs from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM each day, giving students a structured and safe space to learn and explore while parents can have peace of mind knowing their children are in good hands.
Now, the important thing to remember is that space is limited.
This year, 2,000 students will be able to attend, but spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
So, families who are interested should not wait too long to register.
The deadline to sign up is April 1, but with high demand, seats might fill up quickly.
It’s best to register as soon as possible to secure a spot.
Parents can register online by clicking their school’s “APPLY HERE” link or by reaching out to the Extended Day provider assigned to their child’s school.
Speaking of schools, this camp is specifically for students who attend one of the 22 participating Extended Day, Extended Year schools in Philadelphia.
Students already enrolled in these programs will have priority, but if there’s extra space, siblings and other students may be considered as well.
This way, as many kids as possible get a chance to enjoy the camp.
The City of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia make this camp possible to give students more learning and fun outside of school hours.
Thanks to Mayor Parker’s Extended Day, Extended Year pilot initiative, more children can access high-quality enrichment programs like this.
The goal is to provide structured, safe, and fun opportunities for kids to stay engaged even when school is not in session.
For families looking beyond Spring Break Camp, it’s also time to start considering registration for the upcoming school year and summer programs.
The registration window for Extended Day programs for the 2025-2026 school year opens on March 17 at 6:00 AM.
Like Spring Break Camp, spaces fill up fast, so parents should sign up as early as possible to avoid being put on a waitlist.
The Extended Day programs run all year from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, giving families flexible options.
Some students attend before and after school, while others only join for one part of the day.
There is also a Minimum Use Program, which allows kids to attend up to eight days per month with the option to buy extra days if needed.
For families who need financial assistance, childcare subsidies may be available through the Department of Economic Security (DES). Depending on eligibility, these subsidies can help cover part or all of the tuition costs.
While the tuition rates for the next school year haven’t been finalized yet, there is an expectation that there may be a small increase due to inflation.
However, discounts will still be available for LESD staff members.
One thing to keep in mind for preschool families is that Fall and Spring Break camps are not included in the regular preschool tuition, so separate arrangements may need to be made.
Also, families with children in the Extended Day program at Barbara B. Robey Elementary School should note that students will be bused from Dreaming Summit Elementary School.
That means drop-offs and pick-ups must happen at Dreaming Summit rather than Barbara B. Robey.
If parents have any questions about registering, they can contact the Community Education office at 623-535-6046 or 623-535-6052.
The entire registration process happens online through the Eleyo parent portal, so there’s no need to visit the office in person.
Updated immunization records can be uploaded, emailed, or even dropped off in person after hours using the office’s drop slot.
Families should also remember that even if their child was already enrolled in the Extended Day program this year, they still need to re-register for the next school year.
Licensing regulations require this to ensure that all records are up to date and that there is enough staff to meet the required student-to-teacher ratios.
The programs fill up based on availability and staffing, so signing up quickly is the best way to secure a spot.
It’s also good to know that tuition remains the same even in months with fewer school days because the yearly tuition is averaged over the entire year.
Thus, families can budget consistently without worrying about fluctuating costs each month.
The deadline may be April 1, but because seats are filling up, it’s best not to wait until the last minute.
