The best of 2024-25 sports

The Northeast Times held its annual high school sports awards banquet on May 14 at Sprinkler Fitters Local 692.

Sponsors were Archbishop Ryan, St. Hubert, Franklin Towne Charter, HotWorx, JAG Physical Therapy, Spike’s Trophies and Lifestyles Magazines and Events.

In all, there were 45 awards representing the fall, winter and spring seasons, along with overall winners.

Sports editor Joe Mason was the emcee.

The winners were:

• Fall: Frankie Mawson (Archbishop Ryan), Catholic League Football Player of the Year; Ziyyon Bredell (Abraham Lincoln), Public League Football Player of the Year; Damon Brockington (Frankford), Football Coach of the Year; Shawn Dixon (Archbishop Ryan), Catholic League Boys Soccer Player of the Year; Cameron Powers (Northeast), Public League Soccer Player of the Year; John Psoras (Northeast), Boys Soccer Coach of the Year; Gracie Sullivan (Nazareth Academy), Catholic League Girls Soccer Player of the Year; Molly Dietsch (Franklin Towne Charter), Public League Girls Soccer Player of the Year; Brigid Kelley (Nazareth Academy), Girls Soccer Coach of the Year.

• Winter: Derrick Morton-Rivera (Father Judge), Catholic League Boys Basketball Player of the Year; Izaaz Kornegay (Samuel Fels), Public League Boys Basketball Player of the Year; Chris Roantree (Father Judge), Boys Basketball Coach of the Year; Luca D’Andrea (St. Hubert), Catholic League Girls Basketball Player of the Year; Janeliss Laboy (Frankford), Public League Girls Basketball Player of the Year; Jonathan Michels (Frankford), Girls Basketball Coach of the Year; Liam Carr (Archbishop Ryan), Catholic League Wrestler of the Year; Luis Desilva (Frankford), Public League Wrestler of the Year; Mike Siravo (Northeast), Wrestling Coach of the Year; Oleksandr Zholob (Philadelphia Academy Charter), Boys Swimmer of the Year; Gina Paczewski (Archbishop Ryan), Girls Swimmer of the Year; Ed Roussel and T.J.
