Rhawnhurst Civic Association last week welcomed Bill Kenny and Heather Miller, of the Register of Wills office.
Kenny spoke of the office’s Title Clearance Unit, which can help people with so-called “tangled” titles that often result following the death of a homeowner.
Anyone with questions can call 215-686-6262 or email [email protected].
Kenny also spoke about wills, including a misconception that someone who dies before their spouse doesn’t need a will because their money will go directly to the surviving spouse.
Wills should be kept in a safe place, Kenny said, and the individual should tell the executor where to find the original copy.
Upon death, a will can be brought to the Register of Wills office so the estate can be settled.
The Register of Wills will have a pop-up event on June 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the office of state Rep. Sean Dougherty, at 7801-A Hasbrook Ave.
